FORMING SIMPLE SENTENCES IN IGBO
Similar to English, Igbo present tense word order is typically:
SVO –
- SUBJECT (I/He/They…etc)
- VERB (to go/to be/…etc)
- OBJECT (happiness(adjective)/park…etc)
So if I wanted to say I am a nice person. I would say:
A(I) bu m(am) ezigbo(a good) mmadu(person).
Below are some examples of Igbo verb conjugation using the verb (to be)

Amara m mma nwanyị | I am a pretty (woman) |
Ị mara mma nwoke | You are handsome |
Ị mara mma nwanyị | You are pretty |
Ọ mara mma nwoke | He is handsome |
Ọ mara mma nwanyị | She is pretty |

Abụ m ezigbo mmadụ | I am a nice person |
Ị bụ ezigbo mmadụ | You are a nice person |
Ọ bụ ezigbo mmadụ | He/She is a nice person |
Anyị bu ezigbo mmadụ | We are nice people |
Anyị bụcha ezigbo mmadụ | We are all nice people |
Unu bu ezigbo mmadụ | You are nice people |
Unu bụcha ezigbo mmadụ | You are all nice people |
Ha bụ ezigbo mmadụ | They are nice people |

Etoro m ogologo | I am tall |
Ị toro ogologo | You are tall |
Ọ toro ogologo | He/she/it is tall |
Anyị tochara ogologo | We are all tall |
Unu tochara ogologo | You are all tall |
Ha tochara ogologo | They are all tall |
