Okwu ID was born from a desire to give young Igbo people growing up in the diaspora something many of us once searched for ourselves: a deeper sense of identity, belonging and self worth.
Growing up between cultures can leave you feeling caught between two worlds, especially when the world around you so often diminishes the value of Blackness and Africanness. Okwu ID exists to challenge that narrative, to remind young Igbo people that there is pride, beauty, strength and history in where they come from, and to give them a cultural foundation they can carry with confidence wherever they go.
