Igbo is the name of an ethnic group indigenous to west Africa. Technically, Igbo is a meta-ethnicity which encompasses different sub-groups that make up an interconnected whole. All which have very similar linguistics, ancient belief systems and cultural practices. This is why there are so many dialects.
